Over 40 members of the Transvaal Horse Artillery (THA) also known as the Horse Gunners, deployed to the School of Artillery in Klipdrift, outside Potchefstroom, for a weekend of intensive training from the 23rd to the 25th April 2010.

The training weekend focused on the Technical Aspects of Gunnery. Refresher training on certain aspects of Local Area Defence and Immediate Actions Drills were also conducted as part of the program.

The training forms the foundation of the Unit's Continuation Training, which will see the THA soldiers undergoing individual training, then moving on to team training and integrated team training. Each training session will build on the previous and will culminate in a live-fire exercise during the later part of 2010.

The Horse Gunners began this years training on the Artillery Simulator where the skills required to operate their Prime Mission Equipment (PME), were honed. This is regarded as an excellent way to train as the crews can repeat the skills many times without using live ammunition. Once the members have completed the necessary tasks and are evaluated as  being competent, they move over to their PME to practice their skills hands-on.

"The weekend was a huge success, building on the achievements of last year. We will be ready for a combined field exercise later this year," concluded the Regimental Adjutant Lieutenant Richard Ngwenya.

Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, buses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards.
